Huge Turnout at last night’s Parish Council Public Consultation Meeting

There was an excellent number of attendees to last night’s Parish Council meeting. More chairs had to be distributed to the back of the hall until there was no more room. Others had to stand around the sides and rear of the main hall. There was a near 350 capacity audience at the meeting from Ryarsh, Birling, Addington, Trottiscliffe, Leybourne Chase, along the A20 London Road & West Malling.

Missed the event?

For those that could not attend. A video presentation produced by Ryarsh resident Andy Betts, free of charge for the Ryarsh Parish Council, was shown after the introductions at the beginning.

Representatives of Kent County Council Minerals & Waste Planning Policy gave their presentation, detailing the process and estimated timescale. The team wants local feedback and reactions to the proposed site and wish that you contact them via email, letter and/or comments on the online document. All this information is available on our “Take Action” page.

KCC could not give much information due to the proposal not being at the “Planning stage”. They do not have this information as this first phase is merely a consultation to the area. The site was “promoted” by 'Borough Green Sand Pits LTD’. By law, KCC must treat this promotion like any other and put it through their methods & phases. They pushed heavily that it’s “certainly not a done deal” and that they’re listening to local residents.

It is paramount that we send individual letters, emails & comment on the online consultation document, detailing how this will impact our lives for the next 30 years. An argument that KCC will not accept is the loss of value to your property, but they are required to make a note of this if you mention it. Your communications need to also include other arguments such as those found on our Health, Traffic, Environment, Commercial Impact and Structural Impact pages. Remember you can include your own issues too!

As always you’re able to contact us via the Contact Us page.
